Our Specialties

Since its founding 61 years ago, Asheville Radiology Associates has provided high quality, cost effective radiology services to the community. From our board-certified radiologists to our expert technologists and friendly office staff, Asheville Radiology is dedicated to meeting the needs of patients and their physicians.

Body Imaging

Body imagers are radiologists who use cross-sectional imaging techniques to diagnose and follow disease processes of the chest, abdomen and pelvis. With the use of CT, ultrasound and MRI, they identify neoplastic, inflammatory and traumatic lesions throughout the body.

Cardiothoracic Imaging

Cardiothoracic imaging is the imaging of the chest area including the lungs and heart. Chest x-rays and CT are the standard procedures used in the evaluation of the respiratory and cardiovascular system.

Diagnostic Radiology

Is the process of creating images of the body, its organs, and other internal structures with external radiation. Diagnostic radiology procedures are generally non-invasive, meaning the body is not entered with any equipment or cut open for imaging. Certain procedures can combine diagnostic radiology techniques along with minimally invasive procedures to diagnose a treatment.

  • Angiogram

Interventional Radiology

  Interventional Radiology

Our Interventional Radiologists are fellowship-trained and specialize in performing image-guided procedures to treat and diagnose a wide range of vascular and nonvascular diseases.

Musculoskeletal Radiology

The Section of Musculoskeletal Radiology offers the full spectrum of imaging modalities to diagnose disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including plain film radiography, CT, MRI, arthrography, MR arthrography, CT arthrography, image guided pain management, bone biopsies and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of bone tumors. The section works closely with our colleagues in Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, Rheumatic and Immunologic Disease, and general practice to provide accurate and cost-effective diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal pathology.

MRI
Dedicated extremity coils including wrist coils. Multiplanar imaging useful for evaluating joint, tendon and ligamentous pathology.

MR Arthography
Used to evaluate:

  • Intercarpal ligaments
  • Glenoid labrum
  • Acetabular labrum
  • Postoperative meniscus
  • Osteochondritis dissecans
  • Articular cartilage defects

Whole Body MRI
New modality in hte evaluation of skeletal metastasis and detection of multiple myeloma.

Image-Guided Procedures
Steroid and Anesthetic injections for use in:

  • Major joints
  • Epidural space
  • Facets
  • Selective nerve root blocks
  • Foot and Ankle joints
  • Sacroiliac joints
  • Pseudoarthrosis
  • Piriformis syndrome

Orthopedic hardware imaging

CT arthrography for:

  • Chondromalacia
  • Intra-articular loose bodies
  • Evaluation of articular cartilage

Interventional Neuroradiology

  Interventional Neuroradiology

Our Interventional Neuroradiology team offers a full spectrum of contemporary and emerging endovascular therapeutic and neurointerventional techniques

Nuclear Medicine

Specialize in the use of radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis of a variety of conditions. Nuclear medicine uses the administration of small amounts of radioactive tracers to study body physiology. Cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, thyroid, hepatobiliary and musculoskeletal systems can be imaged to provide valuable functional information.

Vascular Surgery

  Vascular Surgery

Our vascular surgeons are experts in diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. They employ the most up-to-date open and endovascular techniques.
